SGK exit codes and entitlements

Which exit code gives severance pay, notice pay and unemployment benefit? Code-by-code tables and why choosing the right code matters.

Last updated: 21 October 2026

The exit code on the SGK leaving notification directly determines whether the employee can receive unemployment benefit, and is strong evidence for severance and notice pay. A wrong code causes loss of rights for the employee and lawsuits and SGK fines for the employer. The notification is filed via e-Bildirge within 10 days of leaving.

The tables show the general rule. Severance pay also requires at least 1 year of service; unemployment benefit requires continuous work in the last 120 days and 600 premium days in the last 3 years. Notice pay arises when an indefinite contract is terminated without notice.

Choosing the right code

  1. Give notice of termination in writing. The code rests on the reason in the letter; if they conflict, courts and SGK look at the real reason.
  2. Do not confuse resignation with mutual termination (ikale). Mutual termination is generally reported with code 22 – Other reasons and does not give İŞKUR unemployment benefit; severance and notice are paid as agreed. Reporting it with code 04 weakens the employer's position. Details: Mutual termination and release · Resignation and just cause.
  3. The code can be corrected later. A wrong notification can be corrected by the employer's petition or by court decision.
  4. Calculate the payments: Severance, notice and leave pay · Unemployment benefit.
